We share our favourite flowers for summer weddings

The Stylish Sunflower

For us, sunflowers are THE flowers which symbolise summer. How can you not smile when you see their sunshine colour petals and large heads bobbing around in the fields! Sunflowers also bloom beautifully in the English sunshine, so we can look to source high-quality, British grown Sunflowers to use in your wedding flowers.

Did you know these happy looking blooms also have a hidden meaning of adoration and loyalty? Making sunflowers a thoughtful and stylish flower choice for summer weddings.

One of our favourite Summer weddings last year that Magnolia the Florist created the wedding flowers for included sunflowers as the feature bloom, just look at that floral arch to get married under!  The wedding was held at nearby Elms Meadow – a stunning rustic outdoor wedding venue in Northamptonshire. Modern Alliums

Alliums have been a classic summer wedding flower for many years, but are back in the top trend for 2020! These pom-pom style flowers have a sculptured round head, meaning they work well for contemporary floral designs and add a modern twist for Summer weddings. Alliums are most common in striking purple shades, but are also available in white, blue and pink. We love Alliums in bridal bouquets and venue flowers combined with cream roses

Alliums have a meaning of patience and good fortune – ideal for wedding flowers then!

Country garden Delphiniums

These stunning flowers are delicate and pretty, they are like a tall tower of bell shaped petals. Delphinium are at their very best during the warm summer months making them a great seasonal choice for summer weddings.

They come in a range of colours, with white and baby blue being the most popular for weddings. Their long, sturdy stems mean they are great for big, relaxed bridal bouquets and also for creating table centres and venue arrangements with lots of dramatic height with an English garden feel. They symbolise truth and protection.
