Where to buy houseplants online?
Buying houseplants online is easy from Magnolia the Florist! We have a gorgeous range of houseplants online, which we update regularly with new indoor plants we get in stock throughout the year. All our houseplants are available for same day local delivery (8 mile radius of our Kettering flower shop) or if you want to pick out your own plant, we have a small selection out the front of our florist shop in central Kettering.
What is the most popular houseplant?
One of our bestselling indoor plants all year round is the Phalaenopsis Orchid, which gives the home some luxurious tropical style. The Magnolia the Florist Orchid plant comes in a range of colours such as white, pink or purple.
Popular with our customers as a stylish plant for their own home, or makes the perfect Happy New Home gift to send. The Phalaenopsis Orchid is ideal as it is a super low maintenance plant but also adds colour with its stunning flowers.

There are so many different varieties of houseplants, you will be spoilt for choice! As your local florist in Kettering, Magnolia the Florist can help you pick the perfect houseplant. Which houseplants are easiest to care for?
The great thing with pretty much all houseplants is that they are super easy to care for and low maintenance. One of our favourite, practically indestructible, houseplants is the ZZ Plant. The ZZ Plant (check him out below!) does best when you give it less attention – it prefers not much water and is perfect for a spot in the bathroom or corner in the kitchen.
How often to water houseplants?
Our experience is that most houseplants need watering every 1-3 weeks. The best thing to do is keep an eye on your plants so you can adjust when you water them when they need it. Magnolia the Florist team will happily give you some easy care tips when you purchase your indoor plant from us, to help ensure your houseplant lives long and healthy!
Every houseplant is different and how often to water can depend on size, pot and living conditions. Some houseplants love a dry soil so only need a sprinkle of water every few weeks, and other plants like a steady moist soil. The one tip NOT to do is drown the plant in water – they hate sitting in boggy, wet soil and this can lead to the roots rotting and dying.
Are houseplants good for you?
Not only do they look fabulous, but research also suggests that houseplants have health benefits too. Plants in the home and office can have many benefits on humans – improving wellbeing, productivity and some plants even help with air purity.
One of the most famous wellbeing plant is the Aloe Vera, whose juice that is stored in their leaves has magical healing properties. The Aloe Vera juice has been used for thousands of years as a natural medicine to help heal skin burns and improve digestive health.
What houseplants are poisonous to cats?
If you have pets, it is always worth being on the safe side and checking if the flowers or leaves may be harmful to them. To help care for your four-legged friends we recommend double checking with your local florist on the variety of plant or flowers – the Cats Protection website also has a great guide.
Why has my houseplant leaves turned yellow?
There are a few reasons this can happen – but don’t worry, with some TLC your plant should recover to full health!
If some of the leaves turn yellow and are dropping or crispy, you plant just needs a bit more watering. If your lower plants leaves are fading to green or bright yellow it may be the plant is over watered – simply leave the soil to dry out and then water less in the future. If the whole plant has started to get a yellowish tint it sounds like the plant has got too big for the pot (the roots have nowhere to grow and expand) so you can just repot it to a bigger home.
