Celebrate Independent Retailer Month
Here at Magnolia the Florist in Kettering we are celebrating Independent Retailer Month throughout July! Independent Retailer Month is a campaign that runs annually to highlight the importance of local businesses on our nations high streets.
As an independent florist shop for over 15 years in Northamptonshire, being part of the local community of Kettering and surrounding villages is really important to us. Dean and the Magnolia the Florist team are grateful for all the support we get as a local business – and we are dedicated to always offering beautiful flowers and gifts along with a big smile!
Running a small business in Kettering has been fantastic for us, based on Market Street we are in the heart of the town. We especially love all the events that are held in the local area that help highlight independent businesses and connect them with the community. Here are a few of our favourites this summer!
KettFest 2019
KettFest is in its 4th year now, and is devoted to celebrating Kettering and its people! Taking place this year from the 12th -14th of July, KettFest will see our beautiful town transformed with a big splash of colour, tons of activities and a big spoonful of community spirit. Venues across the town including The Yards, The Library, Rocket Records, Kettering Art’s Centre and Wickstead Park will be hosting events during the festival weekend.
Our florist shop is located just opposite The Yards in Kettering, why not pop in and browse our beautiful hand-tied bouquets, gorgeous gift range including our exclusive Boutanique Travel Candles and Reed Diffusers!
Kettering Pride 2019
After the storming success of Kettering’s first Pride event last year, we are excited it will be back this year! Kettering Pride is taking place on Sunday 25th August 2019 and this year is raising money for a fantastic charity – Kettering Mind. The day promises to be jam packed with stalls from local businesses, delicious food, music from local DJ’s and acoustics acts and much more!
And this year Magnolia the Florist have designed a very special hand-tied flower bouquet to celebrate Kettering Pride. A beautiful flower bouquet in rainbow colours, our florists use a stunning combination of happy gerberas, pretty carnations, roses and luxurious foliage. Corby Highland Gathering
A unique community event celebrating Corby’s strong Scottish links, this year’s Corby Highland Gathering will be held on the weekend of 13th and 14th July 2019. The Highland Dancing Championships will be held, local groups performing, pipe bands and craft stalls. Tickets start from just £5 per adult for weekend entry to the event.
Did you know Corby is known affectionately as ‘Little Scotland’? The reason behind this fun fact is the steelworks and creation of Corby town in the 1950’s brought an influx of Scottish families to the local area. To honour the links to our Scottish friends, the first Highland Gathering was held back in 1968, and the tradition has been carried on by a dedicated committee to this day.
